    Theme of the 2023 Competition: Ideology and cultural history: past, present, future

    CONTEST RULES
    Cataluyna Literària Fundació Privada periodically awards, as from 2002, a prize for humanistic
    essays on a subject previously established for each competition. The winning works in previous
    editions have dealt with, among other subjects, with, the origin of the Earth, the construction of
    Europe, the biological bases of politics, the challenges of education, the ethnic variety of
    societies, the evolution of communication and other aspects of the development of humanity.
    Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada was created by Antoni Pàmies Anguera with the objective of
    furthering knowledge and spreading works in the field of thinking. La Foundation is totally
    independent of any entity with religious or political character.
    The theme of the 2023 competition is ‘Ideology and cultural history: past, present and future’
    Works submitted should examine the role of ideology in culture, and/or vice versa, to offer a
    general or specific historical view of ideas about society and its challenges expressed through
    discourses on art, science, morality, philosophy, politics, religion, journalism, and other fields—
    ideas that represent worldviews, beliefs and attitudes that have varied throughout history, from
    antiquity to the current era of artificial intelligence and its related questions.
    The Humanistic Essay Award has an endowment o 200,000 (two hundred thousand) euros.
    Pieces submitted may not have been previously published or committed to other parties. They
    should be between 45,000 and 90,000 words in length and in PDF format. Originals may be
    submitted in Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian or English.
    Copyright is reserved exclusively for the winning author or authors, who are free to enter into direct
    agreements with publishers without the financial involvement or participation of Catalunya
    Literària Fundació Privada, although the foundation reserves the right to issue and distribute
    editions free of charge in any format.
    The works should be sent to the email address administracio@clfp.cat prior to 31 October 2023. All
    entries will receive an acknowledgement of receipt.
    The prize will be awarded by a jury, the composition of which will be released when the decision is
    published on 30 November 2023.
    If the jury is of the opinion that none of the works submitted meet the basic conditions of the
    awards or are of insufficient quality and the prize is declared null and void, the endowment will be
    allocated to a new competition to be held the following year.
    The prize ceremony may be private or public. In the latter case, the author or a representative of the
    prize-winning authors agree to attend the event.
    Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the rules.

    Works submitted should examine the evolution of the media in Spain’s democratic period, its current state and prospects for the future, especially in terms of social impact.

    The subject of the 2016 competition is: The welfare state and human dissatisfaction

    The works presented must deal with the longings and the personal awareness and the convenience or not to follow our objectives to build a healthier society, from a philosophical and psychological point of view. Taking as an example the American dream and other influences that we can get from popular culture.

    The Humanistic Essay Prize is an award of 200.000 (two hundred thousand) euros.

    This year, with the objective of reaching a greater number of people with the essay genre and, above all, a younger public, we are opening the competition to audiovisual support. For this reason the works can be presented only in literary format or accompanied by audiovisual support.

    The works presented must not have been published or compromised beforehand. The works in literary format must be presented in digital format and must have a content of between 50.000 and 150.000 words, or between 20.000 and 30.000 words if accompanied by audiovisual support. The latter must have a duration of more than 45 minutes. Consideration will be given to unpublished work. The originals can be presented in Catalán, Castellano, French, Italian or English.

    The winning author or authors will have the liberty to distribute freely without intervention or participation in any economic aspect from Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada.

    The rights of the author will be reserved exclusively for the winning author or authors who will have liberty to contract directly editions with the publishers, without intervention or participation in any economical way from Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada, but taking into account that the Foundation reserve the right to make issues for free circulation in any means.

    In the case of the literary works, they must be sent to the email: administracio@clfp.cat, before 31/05/2016. The audiovisual works must be presented by means of the same email limit date using a link (and if necessary a password) where the document can be seen.

    The prize will be awarded by a jury, whose components will be made public in the moment the verdict is announced, on 16/06/2016.

    If according to the jury, the works presented do not adhere to the basic conditions of the competition or do not have sufficient quality and the contest was annulled, the award would be destined to a new competition for the following year.

    The prize awarding act can be of a private or public character. In the case of the latter the author or a representative of the winning authors will be obliged to attend.

  • Humanistic Essay Prize. The Evolution of the Communication

    CONTEST RULES

    Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada, has periodically, from 2002 donated a prize for a humanistic essay on a subject previously announced in each competition. The winning pieces from previous competitions have dealt with, among other subjects, the origin of the Earth, the construction of Europe, the biological bases of politics, the challenges of education, the different ethnic groups of societies, and other aspects of the evolution of humanity. Catalunya Literaria Fundació Privada was founded by Antoni Pamies Anguera with the objective of furthering knowledge and the spreading of philosophical works. The Foundation is completely independent of any religious or political entities.

    The subject of the 2012 competition is THE EVOLUTION OF COMMUNICATION. The works presented for the competition must deal with the evolution and the present situation of the multiple forms of human communications and their economical, cultural and political consequences. Special consideration will be given to the adoption of a worldly perspective and to attention to new information technology.

    The Humanistic Essay prize consists of a donation of 200.000 (two hundred thousand) euro.

    The works presented must not have been published or previously contracted to any publishing house; in length must be between 50.000 and 150.000 words, and must be presented in digital form. The original forms can be presented in Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian or English language.

    The works must be submitted to Catalunya Literaria Fundació Privada, Rambla Nova 106-bis 7 º-4 ª, 43001 Tarragona before June 25th 2012. All work presented will have a receipt.

    The prize will be judged by a jury, the composition of which will be made public at the moment the verdict is announced, July 10th 2012.

    If, according to the jury, the Works presented did not comply with the basic conditions of the competition or if they did not have sufficient quality and the prize was declared not to have a winner, then the prize money would be destined to a new competition to be held the following year.

    The prize giving act could be private or public. In the case of the latter, the prize winner or his or her representative must be present.

    Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada reserves the right to publish the winning piece, in non commercial publications distributed free of charge, as in contracts with prestigious renowned publishing houses, in all types of support, including internet and in all languages.

    The works which have not received a prize will be available for their writers en the premises of the Foundation.

    CONTEST RULES

    Theme/Subject:
    The lack of an ability to prevent predictable events has been creating labyrinths that imprison human beings in the XXI Century. As it always happened, different interests and feelings in different places of the world, determine policies which are often contradictory for the countries that have become States, and globalization awaits also as always has been the case, and badly, in the economic sphere.
    The knowledge achieved, especially in the First World, allows us to examine the problems that arise from each labyrinth and from the global one. That is the subject.

    Reward:
    200.000 €

    Length of the literary work:
    A minimum of six hundred thousand letters presented in an electronic format and distributed into approximately 250-350 pages.

    RULES:

All the propose works will have receipt requested and communication to their authors of the winner of the prize. Date Maxima top for delivery of the original ones: December 10th of the present year.
    2. The originals or translations may be presented in Italian, Catalan or Spanish.
    3. The presentation of the award can have a private or public nature, in which case the author or representative will guarantee their assistance with a mutual agreement.  
    4. If the Jury decides that the presented works do not fulfil the basic conditions of the contest, the award will be declared as void and the reward will be added to the next year’s contest to a biennials extra call.  
    5. The winner or winners of the prize that wish to request a fiscal exemption of their IRPF are obliged to swear under oath that the awarded literary work has not been published nor edited and that was already written at the time of this contest in the BOE of the State.
    6. This is an international contest.

    Theme/Subject:
    Rational transition to the cultural and economic globalisation in the present world. 
    Study of the current world circumstances in which the process of economic and cultural globalisation is being developed without the involvement of a government project or intention which includes all countries when at the same time, they are the only ones with the ability to carry out a project of that nature.

    The author or authors may follow a guide that we will be placed at their disposal or may choose to follow a different way for expressing the concepts but always including the specific subjects that appear in the guide’s index, which can be arranged in the order they find most suitable.

    Length of the literary work:
    A minimum of six hundred thousand letters presented in an electronic format and distributed into approximately 250-350 pages.

  • Humanistic essay prize. Convocation 2004

    CONTEST RULES

    SUBJECT: (*)
    HUMAN COLLECTIVES:
    TO CONSTITUTIONALISE OR TO CREATE?*

    AWARD:
    200.000 euros.

    LENGTH:
    Minimum of 200 pages of 45 lines with 65 spaces of original manuscript and accompanied by a copy on computer disc.

    SUBMISSION OF WORK:
    At the Foundation’s registered office from Monday to Friday between 10.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon or by post before 30 August 2004.

    COPYRIGHT:
    Reserved for promoting and disseminating the work for two years as from the date of first publication. The author retains full copyright in subsequent years.

    PUBLICATION:
    As many copies as necessary will be published, in accordance with the book’s success.

    REGULATIONS:

    1. Non-prize winning works will be available to their authors at the Catalunya F.P. headquarters from the time that they have been notified that they have not won a prize.
    2. The prize, which will be awarded in accordance with the decision of a jury which will be constituted on 15 September 2004, will be made public by 30 December of the same year.
    3. Original works, or those translated into Catalan, will be published at the very least in that language. Catalunya F.P. is authorised to publish in other languages, the author also being at liberty to do the same.
    4. The prize-giving ceremony may be either a private or public event. All authors will be notified of the decision whether they have won a prize or not.
    5. If, in the opinion of the jury, none of the works submitted fulfil the basic conditions, or if due to unacceptable quality the prize is declared null and void, the endowment will be assigned to the third Competition.

    7. Originals should be written in either Catalan or Castilian.

     

    * EXTENSION OF DEFINITION OF THEME

    The prize for the first competition having been awarded (currently being prepared for publication, entitled “The State of the World 2001”), we are continuing with the aim of publishing informative works alongs the lines of the prize – winning essay which deal with the globalising movement in general. For the second competition we are proposing a study on the conflicts involved in coexistence in multi-national states, multi-state unions and global organisations. Entrants in the second competition who experience difficulties in finding a copy of the prize-winning book from the first competition should contact the Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada.

  • Rules for the competition for a literary work in the form of an essay

    CONTEST RULES

    The Catalunya Private Foundation (Catalunya Literària Fundació Privada)
    has been founded for the single purpose of organizing literary competitions for essays and non-fiction.

    In this first edition, the award for the first prize been set at 150.000 euros, and the jury may offer discretionary awards of 10.000 euros for the runners-up.

    SUBJECT:
    The State of the Earth in 2001.

    A socio-political study of the state of humanity, and its planet, in the context of developing globalization.

    LENGTH:
    Minimum 250 DA4 pages, typewritten on one side only, with normal spacing. Two copies must be presented.

    ADMISSION OF ENTRIES:
    At the Head Office, frorn Monday to Friday (working days only), between 10 and 12 am, or by to the postal address, until the 30 th of June 2002.

    COPYRIGHT:
    The winning entries will be published. The royalties shall be administered by Catalunya Fundació Privada, and 50% of the net result will be shared with the author.

    RULES:

    1. All entries not qualifying will be made available to their authors in the Head Office of Catalunya F.P. from the date when they receive notification.
    2. The jury will be convened on the 20 th of June 2002, and the prizes awardeb by the Jury’s verdict will be made public within the four months between June and October.
    3. The works written in, or translated into Catalan will be published in this language, while Catalunya F.P. also have the right to publish them in other languages, the author having the right to work in others.
    4. The ceremony of presentation may be public or private, within the year 2002, with the authors prior knowledge, whether selected or not.

     

    * ANNEX TO THE SUBJECT
    The Foundation wishes to publish a work which synthesizes and explains the present situation of the Earth, considering the irreversible trend towards economic, social and political globalization which is beginning.
